EasyAssist AI
Making technology easy for everyone

Privacy & POPIA

This notice explains, in simple words, what information EasyAssist AI collects, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. It is written around South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

The short version: we keep as little as possible, your screenshots are never stored, and you can delete everything at any time from your Profile.

Who is responsible

EasyAssist AI is the responsible party (operator) for the personal information processed through this service. Privacy questions can be sent to privacy@easyassist.africa.

This notice is written to be reviewed and finalised by a South African privacy or legal professional before launch. It does not make legal claims beyond what the service actually does.

What we collect and why

  • Your email address and name — to create your account and sign you in.
  • What you ask for help with — so we can give you instructions and show you your history.
  • Optional phone details (make, model, Android version, navigation style) — so instructions match your phone. You never have to give these.
  • Usage counts — to apply your plan's monthly limit fairly.
  • Your plan and billing status — to manage your subscription.

Screenshots

Screenshots are processed and then discarded. They are sent once to our AI processing partner so the screen can be understood, and they are not saved to our database or file storage. Only the written instructions and a short summary are kept in your history, and only so you can carry on later.

Before you upload, we warn you to hide passwords, PINs, OTPs and card security codes. We also scan the text you type for things like ID numbers, card numbers and phone numbers, and hide them before processing.

AI processing

Understanding a screen is done by an AI model operated by a third-party processor on our behalf, under contract. The AI is used only to produce instructions for you. It does not make decisions about you, and it is never used to complete a payment or transaction for you.

How long we keep information

  • Screenshots: not retained after processing.
  • Help history: kept until you delete it, or until your account is deleted.
  • Account details: kept while your account is open.
  • Usage counts: kept for the current and previous billing periods.

Your rights under POPIA

You may at any time:

  • See the information linked to your account.
  • Correct information that is wrong.
  • Delete your help history, or all of your data.
  • Withdraw your consent, and change your marketing preferences.
  • Ask us for a copy of your information.
  • Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.

All of these are available in your Privacy dashboard.

Security

All traffic is encrypted in transit over HTTPS. Access to your records is protected by row-level security so that only you can read them. Administrators can see totals and counts, but do not have access to your screenshots — because screenshots are never stored. Uploads are limited by file type and size, and requests are limited by your plan.

Sharing, transfers, cookies and analytics

We share information only with the service providers needed to run EasyAssist: our hosting and database provider, our AI processing provider, and a payment provider when you subscribe. Some of these providers process data outside South Africa; where that happens, it is done under contractual safeguards.

We use only the cookies and local storage needed to keep you signed in and to remember your accessibility settings. We do not sell your information, and we do not send marketing unless you opt in.
